Complete Care Guide
Light Requirements ▼
- Bright, indirect light promotes healthy frond development and glossy appearance
- East or north-facing windows provide ideal growing conditions
- Tolerates lower light better than many houseplants
- Avoid direct sunlight which can scorch the large fronds
- Perfect for naturally lit bathrooms and bright offices
Watering Instructions ▼
- Keep soil consistently moist but never waterlogged to support large frond growth
- Water when top inch of soil feels slightly dry
- Use filtered, distilled, or rainwater when possible
- Water around the edges, avoiding the central crown
- Ensure excellent drainage to prevent root rot
Humidity & Temperature ▼
- Moderate to high humidity: 40-60% for optimal frond health and glossy appearance
- Temperature range: 65-80°F (18-27°C) with consistent warmth
- Thrives in naturally humid bathrooms and kitchens
- Use humidity trays or room humidifiers for dry environments
- Avoid cold drafts, heating vents, and sudden temperature changes
Potting & Fertilizing ▼
- Use well-draining, chunky potting mix that mimics epiphytic growing conditions
- Add orchid bark or perlite for extra drainage and aeration
- Feed monthly during growing season with diluted liquid fertilizer
- Repot every 2-3 years or when roots become crowded
- Choose heavy, stable pots to support large frond development
Air Purification & Maintenance ▼
- Excellent air purifier removing formaldehyde, xylene, and toluene from indoor air
- Large frond surface area maximizes air-cleaning benefits
- Remove brown or damaged fronds at the base with clean scissors
- Wipe glossy fronds gently with damp cloth to maintain their lustrous appearance
- Never cut the growing tip - new fronds emerge from the center only

Frequently Asked Questions
What makes Bird's Nest Ferns different from other ferns?
Unlike typical ferns with divided, lacy fronds, Bird's Nest Ferns have large, undivided, glossy leaves that emerge in a rosette pattern. This unique structure creates a completely different aesthetic - more architectural and modern - while being easier to care for than many delicate ferns.
How large will the fronds actually get?
Indoor Bird's Nest Fern fronds can reach 2-4 feet long and 6-8 inches wide when mature, creating an impressive display. The large size, combined with the glossy finish and nest-like arrangement, makes them stunning statement plants for larger spaces.
Why is my fern called an epiphyte?
In nature, Bird's Nest Ferns grow on tree branches and rocks rather than in soil, collecting nutrients from debris that falls into their "nest." This epiphytic nature means they prefer chunky, well-draining potting mixes and don't like to stay too wet.
Is this plant safe around pets and children?
Absolutely! Asplenium ferns are completely non-toxic to cats, dogs, and humans, making them perfect worry-free choices for families who want to enjoy their stunning large glossy fronds and air-purifying benefits safely throughout their home.
Why are my frond tips turning brown?
Brown frond tips usually indicate low humidity, water quality issues, or underwatering. Increase humidity around the plant, use filtered or distilled water, and maintain consistent soil moisture. The large fronds are sensitive to these environmental factors but respond well to proper care.

You will not regret buying this blanket!
Color: Aqua, Size: Queen/King Size - 80" X 90"
I was actually looking for a cotton blanket to add to my bed for fall and winter. Then I came across THIS one. It happens to be the exact shade of (“seaglass” or teal or aqua or whatever you choose to call it) blue green that I am currently redoing my bedroom in. It was a teense more than I’d planned to spend on this project. But I was in a splurgey mood so I went for it.
I can honesty say that I’d happily pay twice as much. It’s much more beautiful and much more insanely soft than it looks in the pictures. While I don’t know how the blanket feels about me, I can assure you that I am madly in love with this gorgeous thing!
I can’t wait for it to cool off in Southern California so I can roll myself up in it. Maybe I’ll crank the A/C down to 50 degrees and pretend there are more than two seasons (summer and late summer) in California. Anyway, this would make a great gift. It would make a great gift for yourself. Self care is important! Spoil yourself! You, at the very least, deserve a cozy cuddly blanket. I’m certain that this luxurious blanket will cure insomnia. Maybe even depression. I’ve owned it for like 2 hours and I have a whole new outlook on life! I feel pampered, spoiled, like queen of the world, maybe even like Cleopatra!
I think that it should be obvious by now that I’m giving this furry looking blanket two thumbs way way up!
Sometimes I order things from Amazon and by the time they arrive Ive already forgotten about them. I was anxiously awaiting my blanket friends arrival and I was prepared to be very meh. Not this time! Nope! Best purchase ever! I know what I’m getting everyone for Christmas!
Buy several for future use. This blanket has made me deliriously happy!
Update: After owning this blanket for, like, a while, I still love it. Shockingly it washes up beautifully! A word of advice. Fabric softener is a big no no. It gets the fur gummy and feeling like unwashed hair after a month. I imagine. I’ve personally never gone with unwashed hair for more than a day or two. It is at its fluffy and soft best when you use one of those new Downey rinses instead. That seems to remove all residue and it comes out feeling even better than brand new. A word of warning. Do not picnic on this blanket. The fur will encase and preserve your crumbs better than Tupperware. You may find a lost treasure that you don’t actually want in there. Best used for sleeping only.

So soft and pretty Looks great!
Color: Aqua, Size: Throw Size - 50" X 60", Color: Aqua, Size: Throw Size - 50" X 60"
This blanket is wonderful. I'm not sure if it will last or wash well but it's amazing right now. I was looking for something that had a sort of aqua color that would go with my new sheets that are aqua but still blend with my comforter which has more blue tones in it. This worked great as far as the color.
I took some pictures and my dog is in them because as soon as I put it on the bed she jumped up and was like "oh thanks Mom ...I love this" That is how soft and luxurious this feels.
Others said theirs was shedding. I took mine out of the bag and shook and no shedding. I did have trouble getting it out of the plastic and cut a few pieces with the scissors but once I got it started I just pulled to rip the plastic.
I took one pic so you could see the back. I would say it's like a fuzzy microfiber and the color is identical. It's just te right thickness. I love the design. It's warm to lay under but also has a warm look. It was a good value at just under $30. I know some people said it did not wash well but I'll be super careful when I wash it and even though it says hang dry I might tumble on a very low or cool dryer so that it does not mat. If it's a disaster I'll come back to report but prob wont wash it for a few months. Oh and no weird smells out of the bag so that was a plus for me since I have chemical sensitivities.
